Daniella Malfitano, better known as Chef D Malfi, is a Chef, Consultant, Media Creator, Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, and Plant-Based Activist. We chat with her about her current projects, what keeps her motivated, and her advice for other vegan businesses.
Tell us a bit about you and your business.
I teach a daily live cooking show called Plant-Based Made Easy that is streamed 5 days a week to Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. On the show, we make a recipe straight of out my monthly Plant-Based Made Easy cookbooks – and we have a blast in the kitchen every month! I make healthy eating and living approachable for all people, no matter what stage of life or experience level.
I believe that compassionate cooking and healthy food has the ability to positively transform our world. The power of our plate is instrumental to the state of our world today and the state of our world tomorrow. We literally are what we eat, and I can show you how fun and easy it is to enjoy the power of plant-based living!
Tell us about your vegan journey.
I have been a chef for 15 years, but this year decided to go plant-based at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. I have always had an interest in vegan and plant-based cooking, but was always too intimidated to go plant-based until now, for fear of not being taken seriously in my industry as a professional. In March of 2020, I felt a calling to go plant-based after making the cognitive and emotional connection between this global pandemic, and our abusive relationship to killing and eating animals. I went plant-based on April 1, 2020, and pivoted my entire business and my entire family to going plant-based altogether. It has been the best decision of my entire personal and professional life!
What keeps you motivated?
Since starting my live show Plant-Based Made Easy, I have also grown a global community of plant-based people from all over the world who are interested in learning easy, healthy and delicious recipes that have the power to change our world one plate at a time! This Plant-Based Made Easy community is what keeps me motivated!
What advice do you have for someone thinking about starting a vegan business?
Just jump in! What we need more now than ever before is a national and global GET HEALTHY NOW CAMPAIGN. Your voices and your food choices matter! I envision a world soon where eating animals and animal products are left in the past for GOOD. Please join me in this act of radical love and health today and for our future!
