Palm Oil and Pollution

This Week’s Featured Vegan Artist is Jo Frederiks

Double Trouble: A Victim of Vivisection

Jo Frederiks is a passionate animal rights advocate, speaking through her art to create awareness and inspire change to a vegan way of life. She is a full-time practising artist, exposing the well-hidden plight of animals we enslave, exploit and needlessly use for food, clothing, entertainment and research.

Working in varying mediums, Frederiks favours graphite and oil paint. She has had many solo, joint, and group exhibitions throughout the years, and her work is in private collections in numerous countries across the world. Her drawings are sensitive, exquisite and beautifully detailed, portraying the unique character of each individual being.

Frederiks grew up on a million-acre cattle station in central Queensland, Australia. It was this environment that not only nurtured her connection to nonhuman animals but highlighted their immense vulnerability at the hands of humankind.

VEGANS DOING COOL S&*T!

Vegan Outreach

Founded in 1993, Vegan Outreach is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization with a mission of stopping violence towards animals. They are envisioning and working towards a future without sentient animals being commodified and exploited. Their focus is on reaching those motivated enough to make changes now. By continuing to increase the number of vegans, they hope to lay the groundwork to reach a tipping point leading to sweeping policy changes for animals.

SUPERVEGAN IN THE HOUSE!

Meet Carrie

Carrie was living in her van and continually saw large trucks transporting dehydrated and hot animals to slaughterhouses. This was when she went vegetarian and after learning about the egg and dairy industry, she became a full vegan! When Carrie settled back into Melbourne after living in her van, it was so easy to be vegan that it didn’t take long at all to adjust once she put her mind to it.
Carrie joined IVWT because she believes in the community we are creating. “I want to spend my days talking to amazing vegan companies and learning their stories. Right now globally we all need a safe space to hear other vegan stories, learn ideas, and connect with businesses trying to make a difference. So many of us are at home and what better time is there to cultivate a space to dive deeper into plant-based living. I love that I get to collaborate with a beautiful team of vegans from around the world who inspire me constantly.”
Carrie would absolutely love for IVWT to become the first place vegans go to when they want to find something. She hopes that our community can share their stories, their ideas, their recipes, their triumphs. “I foresee this as being an invaluable tool for people living in small towns or rural areas without much direct access to vegan products or friends to be able to learn from others around the world and get delicious food and amazing clothes and more delivered to their doors from our directory of vegan businesses.”
In her spare time, Carrie loves festivals and sharing vegan food and drinks with friends around a campfire.
